Happy Mothers everyone! Today's wrap-up is going to be a little different. I haven't really played any new games, and the one exception to that is a game under embargo that I can't speak about.
So idk instead I'll just ramble about whatever crosses my mind.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2
This movie is real good guys. I loved the first Guardians of the Galaxy, calling it at the time the best Indiana Jones and Star Wars movie in decades. The vibe, humor, and wit of it all was unlike any other film of it's genre.
In pretty much every way Guardians 2 betters it. It matches the humor of the first one and then delivers its own twist on it. It adds heart and emotional heft to the proceedings in a way the first never could have dreamed of.
Indeed Guardians 2 is among an elite group of films in it's brilliant handling of comedy and drama at the same time. This is a film that explores the father/son relationship in wonderful fashion. It's insights, while not necessarily groundbreaking or new, ring true and are handled in a manner and in a fashion that feels honest to the character of Starlord and how any one of us might react.
It's more than that though Drax, Baby Groot, Rocket, Gamora, the entire cast seems to shine and build off of the excellent foundation laid in the first film. We already know these characters, so here in this new adventure their allowed to branch out, grow, and go in different and promising new directions.
All of which is to say nothing of Yondu who's an unexpected standout in this film. Micheal Rooker imbues the character with sorrow, grief, and humor as Yondu comes bursting back into the picture.
Oh, also Guardians of the Galaxy 2 has almost certainly the best, most creative, and perfect opener of any of the MCU movies.
It's a real good film y'all.
Driving to Memphis.
Hey. I'm driving to Memphis this weekend. It's over four and a half hours away. What should I listen too? Give me suggestions.
Aside from that I am VERY excited about this trip. I mean for starters, Memphis BBQ is gonna be lit guys. Like, oh man I'm not sure my body is ready for it.
Then there's the fact that I will be engaging in a number of shenanigans while there. Some of which we will be seeing as soon as next week. Get hyped boys and girls.
So yeah, Memphis is going to be awesome and I can't wait.
But, for real. Tell me what to listen to.
Batman Vs. Superman.
So, I kinda started a twitter war over whether BvS is a good movie or not.
Of course the answer is yes and everyone else is just a bunch of hating ass haters.
Ben Affleck is phenomenal as Bats.
Henry Cavill is leagues better than in Man of Steel.
Jesse Eisenberg.....well, lets just skip over that.
Movie is fun, action-packed, and with some really cool, but also sometimes bad, character moments.
It's a totally good movie. Nothing more nothing less. Anyone who says its the worst superhero movie is just delusional and clearly has blocked Batman and Robin from their memory. Lucky them.
Moms. This is your day and y'all are the real heroes out there. Love you mom, thanks for everything, I can't even begin to repay you for it all.
P.S. But for real though, Batman Vs. Superman is a good movie.
